Sedita said in a press release that, “the DNA results lend no corroboration whatsoever to the complainant’s claim”.
DNA evidence did not confirm the woman’s allegation she had been raped by Kane, Sedita said, adding there were “significant material inconsistencies between the complainant’s accounts and those of other witnesses”.
“The totality of the credible evidence-the proof-does not sufficiently substantiate the complainant’s allegation that she was raped by Patrick Kane and this so-called “case” is rife with reasonable doubt”, Sedita said.
While privately dismayed and disappointed with Kane’s behavior, which put him in this situation, the Blackhawks have supported him publicly.
Over the weekend, reports circulated quoting sources that said Kane was unlikely to face charges.
The accuser, who is 21, recently signed an affidavit that said she no longer wanted to press charges.
