Blackhawks send 3-time Stanley Cup champ Patrick Sharp in 4-player deal that nets Daley
The Stars will certainly get a boost on their offense with the presence of Patrick Sharp.

The defending champion Blackhawks’ 2016 Stanley Cup odds have dropped slightly after the team traded Patrick Sharp to the Stars on Friday.
The Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks pulled off a major trade as the Stars acquired forward Patrick Sharp and defenseman Stephen Johns from the Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Trevor Daley and forward Ryan Garbutt, the teams announced Friday. Thank you to the fans for embracing me as a player and accepting me as a part of Chicago.
“I think the primary emphasis in this is more of an old-fashioned hockey trade”, Bowman added.
Garbutt, 29, finished with eight goals and 25 points in 67 games for Dallas last season. “He won two Stanley Cups”. You’re talking World Championship.
“We want winners here, and he’s a proven victor”, Kekalainen said.
If he did that with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn imagine what those numbers will do with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. “Antti Niemi is there now”, Sharp said. Ten years and three Stanley Cups later, Sharp departs Chicago a proven victor. “He competes hard in practice every day and that shows in how he plays in the games as well”, Sharp said.
Which brings us to our final test for a trade: Is it possible that a deal can actually benefit both teams, at least at first glance?
At the age of 33, Sharp seems to be on the decline of his career as he only posted 16 goals and 27 assists in 68 games last season, which is far from his stellar 30 goal seasons a couple of years ago. “He will provide leadership for our group and we love his shoot first mentality”.
Sharp talked Saturday of the four-player deal that sends him to Dallas.
Sharp played in front of empty crowds at home routinely as he got used to being a member of the Blackhawks.
Be Civil – It’s OK to have a difference in opinion but there’s no need to be a jerk.
Dallas was lacking a top-six left wing, but there were many ways they could have filled that hole.
You knew it was coming.
I arrived in Chicago in 2005, not knowing the journey that the Blackhawks would take me over the next 10 years.
“We thought it was important to acquire some ready-made National Hockey League players”, stated Chicago Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman. “Being a part of it for 10 years, it doesn’t surprise me anymore, with such good quality people there that they had such a turnaround”.
“””It’s always tough to give up young defensemen, but sometimes it’s required in order to make a deal,” chicago-blackhawks-trevor-daley-ryan-garbutt”>Bowman said.
“I can’t say anything bad about the Blackhawks”.
While Blackhawks fans can’t be sure who they’ll see on the ice come October just yet, it’s certain that the team Quenneville ices at puck drop will look very different than projected, even calculating for summertime’s trades and shakeups. It was hard for Lindy Ruff and Jim Nill and Jason Spezza.
But true to form, Nill said being able to make such trades required a true team effort. “Scouting staff here, the coaching and player development staff have done a great job of obtaining assets”, Nill said.
