Blackhawks send Patrick Sharp to Dallas in 4-player deal
The previous chapter spanned from what some players still refer to as “the dark ages”, a time when the team played in relative obscurity and a half-empty United Center, to drawing millions of fans to championship celebrations.

He has 70 points (30 goals, 40 assists) over 198 games in his four seasons with the Stars. He’s a possession-driving two-way forward that can excel in several role.
However, his numbers dropped off last season. He had eight goals and 13 assists in 35 games in his rookie season with Columbus.
Dallas was lacking a top-six left wing, but there were many ways they could have filled that hole.
“It wasn’t trying to just get things that would help us down the road”, Bowman said.
The defending champion Blackhawks’ 2016 Stanley Cup odds have dropped slightly after the team traded Patrick Sharp to the Stars on Friday.
Defenseman Stephen Johns was also sent to Dallas as part of the trade.
Daley, 31, spent all 11 of his National Hockey League seasons with the Stars.
Oduya, a 33-year-old defenseman, became an unrestricted free agent after last season.
To be successful with the way he was playing, Daley needs to be with a team that can fit something similar to those parameters. They were 22 games under. Asking [Lindy] Ruff to shelter Daley is unlikely to get anywhere at this stage of his coaching career.
Mike Heika starts us off, first with a look at Sharp’s “Stanley Cup Swagger,” and then with a breakdown of how the forward feels about his impending debut in Victory Green.
Using that: The answer, in this case, is yes.
Certainly not the most awful casting idea in that video, although I think Sharp is way too happy to be Dark Knight. We’re getting closer to a point where we can say this is officially our team.
“There has been some discussions on different things, but can’t characterize it other than that, which is discussions”. “Sort of a dual-purpose move”.
Daley’s offense is palpable. We will always love you. “I mean obviously we didn’t know until we began negotiating where they were going to be”, Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman said. And Chicago ended up with Garbutt, a bruising, high-possession winger whose points production pales in comparison to Sharp’s, and Daley, an offensive defenseman who seems to encounter quite a bit of confusion when asked to actually defend. “Those three Stanley Cups stand out”. But even with that, Dallas still has about $6 million in cap space remaining and adds one of the most consistent playoff performers of the last seven seasons. I played all 10 years in Chicago with those guys. They were 40/1 before acquiring Sharp from Chicago and are now 25/1 to win the 2016 Stanley Cup.

But if you peel away all of that, Sharp to Dallas is a move that could really work for the player and his new team. He’ll be joined by ex- Blackhawks teammate Antti Niemi, his agency mate Jason Spezza, and team captain Jamie Benn, who played with Sharp while both represented Canada at the Olympics and World Championships. They already had a roster capable of battling for a playoff spot in the tough Western Conference and the addition of Sharp should only increase their chances on the upcoming season.
