Shaw has been quick to apologize for the language he used and has claimed the incident was out of character for him.Chicago were down 4-3 and needed a victory to level the series at two games apiece. Blackhawks LW Tomas Fleischmann was a healthy scratch for the second straight game.
“They raised their level, (and) we didn’t match it”, Hitchcock conceded. In six games against the Blackhawks, he made 229 saves. When you get those kind of opportunities, sometimes you come up big. Their defense did a solid job as they held St. Louis to just six shots, but the offense didn’t do a good enough job of dictating pace in the game, and that simply can not happen again on Saturday. Less than 20 seconds later, Upshall buried a one-timer on a two-on-one rush to even the score at 1.St. Louis grabbed a 2-1 lead on a slap shot by Pietrangelo with 11:09 remaining in the first period.
