Blacks, Obama Loyalists Help Clinton Overcome Sanders Surge in Nevada
Clinton has long held a healthy lead over Sanders in national polls but Sanders has recently been catching up fast.

In Nevada, Mrs Clinton won the backing of voters who said electability and experience were important in their vote.
The same poll, however, suggested Ms Clinton’s support among African-Americans remains staunch, accounting for three-quarters of Nevada’s black voters.
“We had 60 percent today for the Democratic caucus had never participated in the caucus before”. Moreover, other uncertainties that come with any entrance poll add additional questions to the detailed demographic data.
In the race for the White House, it’s been showdown Saturday.
Sanders argues that she’s made gains by lifting much of his message, saying she’s adopting not only his policy positions but his “phraseology”. “He said he was going to win and he didn’t, so now they’re a little demoralized”, Ferson said. Speaking with CBS from the ground, he acknowledged the uphill battle he faces in winning over new voters who may be unfamiliar with the once-fringe candidate. And while Sanders won by an overwhelming three-to-one margin among self-described independents, their share of the electorate was too small to boost him to victory.
“We can have a big showdown in Michigan”, Devine said. Mr Robert Shrum, a longtime strategist for presidential campaigns, said with the Nevada win, “most Democrats will conclude – again – that she will be the nominee”. But in a continuing sign of her vulnerability, Mr Sanders did best with voters looking for a candidate who is caring and honest.
But about 4 in 10 voters said they wanted the country to move to a more liberal path than Obama’s.
Nevada is not victor take all, and both candidates leave the state with delegates.
“This was a state that Bernie Sanders was surging in and he had the ability to pull off an upset in the first diverse primary state, frankly”, former Arizona State legislator Chris Herstam said.
There are more than 1,400 delegates at stake in states such as South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Louisiana, and depending on the outcome and proportional allocation of delegates, Clinton could build a comfortable lead.

Allies of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign continue to push hard on the issue of historically black colleges, arguing that the college affordability plan of Senator Bernie Sanders, Clinton’s rival for the Democratic nomination, would hurt these institutions.
