‘Blade Runner’ sequel adds ‘Walking Dead’ star Lennie James to cast

Lennie James, who stars as Morgan on AMC’s popular zombie drama, has joined the cast of the highly anticipated “Blade Runner” sequel, Entertainment Weekly reported. The supporting cast includes the great Robin Wright, Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista, Knock Knock star Ana de Armas, Dutch actress Sylvia Hoeks, Wetlands star Carla Juri, The Martian star Mackenzie Davis, Captain Phillips star Barkhad Abdi, The Dark Knight star David Dastmalchian, and Munich star Hiam Abbass.

Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Prisoners) is directing the film to be released October 6, 2017.

Warner Bros.is handling domestic distribution of the sequel, while Sony is taking on global distribution.

Harrison Ford is set to reprise his role of Rick Deckard in the sequel. Story details are not being revealed.

Ridley Scott will serve as executive producer.

A sequel to the thriller was anticipated after Alcon Entertainment acquired the film, television and ancillary franchise rights to “Blade Runner” in 2011 from the late producer Bud Yorkin and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin to produce prequels and sequels. Bill Carraro will executive produce. Cynthia Sikes Yorkin will produce along with Johnson and Kosove. Bud Yorkin, meanwhile, will receive a producer credit.

As well as starring in The Walking Dead James is also know for his role in Guy Ritchie’s Snatch.
