‘Blade Runner’ sequel with Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford gets 2018 release date

Alcon Entertainment has announced that the sequel to Ridley Scott’s sci-fi classic “Blade Runner” from 1982 will arrive on January 12, 2018, which is Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. Ryan Gosling will star, but given that Harrison Ford is also on board to reprise his role as Deckard, this sequel will necessarily shed some light on the original’s ending. Denis Villeneuve is slated to direct.

The long-awaited sequel for Blade Runner finally has a release date, although we will have to wait until 2018 to see it. Will the residual excitement from Disney’s hottest new property have an effect on Harrison Ford’s new movie?

Denis Villeneuve, who directed Sicario and Prisoners, is directing. With blockbusters and superheroes now doing major business in February, the calendar year is getting crowded with brand names for all 12 months, and many fans likely forget the first Blade Runner was a box office (and critical) bomb.

But then again, who can say who is human or more human?

Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute in all overseas territories in all media. The project is produced by Alcon Entertainment, with the company’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson serving as producers.

Ridley Scott will serve as Executive Producer. Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, CEOs of Thunderbird Films, will also serve as executive producers along with Bill Carraro (“Terminator Genisys”, “The Golden Compass”).
