Blake Griffin won’t be playing for the Nuggets anytime soon
With the rumors coming out about Griffin’s resigning from the team, some people could still speculate that Griffin’s decision to stay could possibly be a reluctant move. However, there’s reason to believe that the all-star forward may never hit the open market.

Doc Rivers has said that he wants to keep the team intact, and according to a report from Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, Griffin, who can opt out of the final year of his contract next summer to become an unrestricted free agent, isn’t planning on playing anywhere else.
Sources close to the situation say win or lose next season, Rivers is not open to trade talks on Griffin or Paul – who are both eligible to become free agents after the season – and that he’s not anxious about either player walking away in July.
The Denver Nuggets had interest in Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin at last year’s trade deadline.
Griffin appeared in four playoff games, but he once again went down with an injury, and the Portland Trail Blazers upset the Clippers in the first round.
Of course, the Big 3 has stayed intact as well, meaning Blake Griffin is returning and DeAndre Jordan is even bringing a gold medal back from the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
National Basketball Association players are getting bigger contracts beginning this summer as the league’s lucrative TV deal has become a factor.
The Heat have always had their eye on adding a star player that could turn them into championship contenders through the 2017 free agency. And both parties have to feel the same way about each other.

As pointed out by Seidman, trading Griffin would make way for more salary cap space to retain point guard Chris Paul, considering that there is no guarantee that Griffin will remain with the team after his contract expires.
