Blake Lively Calls BS on Celebrating the ‘Post-Baby Body’

Blake Lively does not care to know what you think of a woman’s body after giving birth. The segment started off awkwardly enough when the enthusiastic interviewer introduced Lively as someone who “is so well-known for being Mrs. Ryan Reynolds”.

In a recent interview with Australian television network Sunrise, Lively declared that she finds the post-childbirth body standards placed on Hollywood moms “unfair”.

‘This movie was a physical challenge as much as it was an acting challenge, ‘ she says of playing the role of Nancy Adams, a medical student who is attacked by a great white shark.

“You don’t have to be Victoria’s Secret-ready right away”, she said.

‘You gave birth to a human being. After giving birth to her first child, her daughter James, she had just eight months to get into shape for her latest role in The Shallows. “I would really like to see that celebrated”.

Speaking about her gruelling training regime for the surfer thriller film, Blake explained that she thinks it’s “unfair” how the general public celebrate post-baby body transformations.

Instead the actress would like to see the act of having a baby celebrated, instead of the body type that is being purported as flawless after the fact.

She continued, “You’ve just done this incredible miracle that life has to offer”.
