Lambert and Shelton have been attending the CMAs together since 2007 and have even accepted awards together, meaning this year will be the first time in eight years they have attended separately. It would be pretty shocking if either one of them chose to bring a date along for the big night.

Shelton is nominated for two awards, Male Vocalist of the Year and Musical Event of the Year, for his duet with Ashley Monroe, according to Rolling Stone Country.

Looks like we’re not the only ones who think the upcoming Country Music Awards are going to be a little awkward for Blake Shelton, 39, and Miranda Lambert, 31, this year.

In fact, he more than encouraged this year’s host Brad Paisley to poke fun at him and Miranda Lambert.

“This year’s gonna be awkward at the CMAs, speaking of jokes”, Blake told the late-night host. “Because we are, it’s such a family”. “We’ve had conversations like, ‘OK dude, I’ll go sit there and let you kick me in the face a few times.’ I know it’s coming”, he said, summing up the friendly vibe of Nashville. There’s gotta be a joke about me and Miranda. “I know it’s coming, you know”. They had a prenup and the divorce went really fast.

The 39-year-old singer said that he is feeling more inspired than ever before.

Meanwhile, Miranda Lambert seemed to have moved on two months after her split with Blake Shelton and was reportedly embracing the single life. It’s wonderful how quickly life can turn around for you.
