An Igbo think tank, Aka Ikenga, has questioned the silence of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, on the mob killing of Mrs. Bridget Agbahime, in the state over allegations that she had insulted Prophet Mohammed.

Those at the meeting include Ransome Bello, the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Mike Agbahime, the husband of the deceased, islamic scholars and security agencies.
Adesina said, “President Buhari says justice would be done in the matter, and urges the people not to take the law into their hands”.
“These ugly incidences utterly stand condemned and are regarded as criminal and un-Islamic, perpetrated by miscreants and criminals”, the group said.
He admonished that peace and order should be kept as justice will be done. “Let us learn to respect each other’s faith, so that we can know each other and live together in peace”, the statement reported Buhari as saying.
A statement by its Secretary-General, Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, said: “With pains and sobriety, JNI received with shock the unfortunate alleged blasphemy of the Prophet (SAW) by Mrs. Bridget Agbahime, reported to have happened in Wambai, Kano State, and another one that claimed four lives in Pandogari, Rafi Local Government Council of Niger State”.
“This barbarism must stop now”, said association spokesman the Rev John Hayab.
However, the husband of the woman stressed at the meeting that the killing of his 74 year old wife was “illegal and unjustifiable”.
Kano has been blighted by religious violence in the past.
“We commend the Governor of Kano State, as well as the Police Commissioner for their prompt reactions”.
He also expressed his condolences to the husband of the deceased and her family while he promised to work with all the necessary stakeholders to ensure justice is done with the arrest of the main suspect by the police.
The statement further pointed out Arase had also directed the commissioner of police in Kano to sustain the community engagement actions which he was now initiating with all strategic security stakeholders and community leaders in the state with a view to dousing the tension being generated by the condemnable incident.
