A stampede broke out after the bombing, causing chaos at the hospital, officials and witnesses said.
There have been no claims of responsibility so far.
The loud explosion was heard as lawyers brought the body of president of Balochistan Bar Association (BA) advocate Bilal Anwar Kasi, who was gunned down by unidentified assailants earlier in the provincial capital, to the hospital, according to police and rescue officials.
Gen. Raheel Sharif, the powerful army chief of Pakistan, also visited the Quetta Civil Hospital, and met with the wounded.
Lawyer Abdul Latif says he arrived at the hospital to express his grief after hearing that a senior Quetta lawyer, Bilal Kasi, had been shot and killed by gunmen earlier in the day.
At least 63 people have been reported dead following a suicide attack at a government hospital in Pakistan.
However, he said the government is determined to go to any limit to root out terrorism.
“It seems it was a pre-planned attack”, he said.
Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said over 30 killed in the bombing.
Additional contingents of police and para-military personnel reached the blast site and cordoned off the area.
The Chief Minister also summoned a high-level meeting to discuss the security situation.
The blast occurred at a hospital in the city of Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province on Monday, a local official said.
He told local TV channel Geo News that Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) was behind terror incidents in Quetta.
In his message, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Interior and the provincial government to hunt down the perpetrators of this brutal act. He said lawyers will observe three days of mourning and will not appear in court in solidarity with their colleagues and others killed in the attack. Pakistani hospitals have been targeted by militants previously.
Immediately after the incident, an emergency alert has been declared in all the hospitals across the Quetta province, and several of the injured are being shifted to these for emergency treatment.
