Elizabethtown Gas was on the scene to investigate whether gas was the cause. The investigation was continuing.

One person is unaccounted for in a northern New Jersey house explosion that killed a man and left 15 others injured, including an 11-year-old.

Firefighters were seen removing two people from the home at 1031 Magnolia Ave.

Another person who authorities thought might be trapped in the rubble was later found safe.

The names and ages of the victims weren’t immediately released.

The blast leveled the two-family duplex.

Two other homes also suffered damage, CBS2’s Ilana Gold reported.

The Elizabeth Fire Department was assisted by about a dozen other fire departments, McNamara said.

Firefighters were forced to shore up the severely damaged house to conduct a search. Three victims were taken away by Medevac, she said. Officials have not confirmed that information. “That’s not to say the person is still in the building”.

According to Mayor Bollwage, there were complaints of a natural gas odor in the area earlier in the morning.
