The blast took place outside the election office of an assembly member belonging to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Party, in Punjab’s Dera Ghazi Khan district. The MNA was not present there.

Sardar Amjad Farooq Khosa was elected MNA from NA-171 seat in 2013 general elections.

Earlier reports said five people were killed in the blast.

A large contingent of police and security personnel, including the Bomb Disposal Squad, reached the site. “The entered the gathering and blew himself up among the attendees”, DPO said.

In August, Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada and 18 others were killed after two suicide bombers detonated a bomb at a meeting he was attending at his political office in Shadi Khan village, around 30 kilometres away from Attock city.

Khosa escaped the attack as he was not present in the outhouse.

“It was a cowardly attack by terrorists who can’t deter our courage”, the lawmaker said while exclusively speaking to Samaa.

Maken said that Khosa had not received any threats prior to the attack.
