Blatter claims innocence at ethics hearing
They said on Wednesday in Paris that the decision was in protest against what Platini condemned as political process, created to prevent him running to lead FIFA, the football world governing body.

And in a sign of the seemingly ever widening corruption probe within global football, Switzerland said that it had carried out a United States request to freeze about 50 accounts in Swiss banks.
The Swiss Justice Ministry said it had frozen millions of Swiss francs related to world soccer body Federation Internationale de Football Association, a spokesman said on Thursday, confirming a media report.
“FIFA listened to us and made this decision on holding 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation with the aim of developing world football and not for any corruption considerations”, Putin stressed adding that Russian Federation “could not have exerted any pressure”.
Platini’s case will be heard on Friday, but he has said he will boycott the tribunal.
FIFA’s ethics panel is set to rule on their cases next week, and could impose much longer bans than the provisional suspensions if it finds the men guilty of violations.
Blatter suggested in a separate interview with Liberation, the French daily, that he faces two sanction options: Life ban or a two-year ban plus a fine of 160,000 Swiss francs ($161, 000).
The 79-year-old Blatter suspended from his duties as FIFA President has denied any wrongdoing, calling the investigation into his conduct as “outrageous”. Separately, FIFA is also under investigation by USA officials for corruption.
Judge Hans-Joachim Eckert of Germany, chairman of the ethics committee adjudicatory chamber, is expected to read the court’s verdict on Monday. “We should give him the Nobel Peace Prize”.
“I’ve said so all the way the most important thing is not a single country must or have the right to spread its jurisdiction to other states, let alone worldwide organisations”.
Platini seemed to have lost the presumption of innocence and would be represented only by his lawyers, the statement said.
Dozens of people are facing charges in U.S. courts, but Blatter and Platini are not among that group.

The move comes after German prosecutors asked Switzerland to help them look into a suspicious payment linked to Germany’s hosting of the 2006 World Cup.
