If Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini are handed lengthy bans by FIFA’s top judge, the Frenchman’s presidential hopes are virtually doomed, according to the appeals process outlined to Around the Rings by the secretary general of the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Platini has decided not to attend his own ethics chamber hearing today/Friday out of a belief that a guilty result has been pre-determined.

Suspended FIFA president Blatter and suspended UEFA boss Platini are to learn their fate on Monday over whether there was impropriety in a £1.3 million payment received by the latter from the former in 2011. (RUSSIAN) “As for Blatter, he is a very respected person”. FIFA’s ethics judge Hans-Joachim Eckert is due to announce verdicts on the pair on Monday or Tuesday.

Blatter spent more than eight hours being questioned.

Blatter and Platini are both already the subjects of 90 day suspensions but both men face the risk of a life ban over the case.

Ahead of the verdicts which are expected at 9am on Monday, Blatter has called a news conference in Zurich where he will discuss the outcome.

The open letter said: “FIFA has faced unprecedented difficulties this year in a crisis that has shaken global football governance to its core”.

Information from Press Association and The Associated Press were used in this report.

“Mr Platini is innocent”. “It is their obligation to disclose it to the executive committee that they have such an agreement”. Blatter’s opponent in that election, Mohamed bin Hammam of Qatar, said weeks later he was ready to discuss a power-sharing deal with Platini as a condition of securing European votes.

If the 60-year-old Platini receives a ban of four years, it will likely finish his career in soccer politics.

As finance director, Kattner was involved in signing off on the payment to Platini.

Michel Platini'I decided not to come before you to present my explanations in person. For one reason and one only I've already been judged I've already been found guilty
