“It’s a total disgrace”. “A lot of the older generation find it totally appalling”. But backlash over Nazi imagery used in a United Kingdom shoot has prompted the director to respond.
The 18th century mansion in Oxfordshire, southern England, where Churchill spent time as a child, is the set for Adolf Hitler’s command center in the fifth “Transformers” movie, “The Last Knight”. Jamie Spencer-Churchill, the 12th Duke of Marlborough, now resides there, and the palace has reportedly been used as a filming location for several recent films, including the James Bond film Spectre and Disney’s live-action Cinderella.
Veterans complained that dressing the palace up in this way was “disrespectful” to the wartime prime minister, even if it is for a film.
Ex-commander of British forces in Afghanistan, Colonel Richard Kemp, said: “I know its a film, but it’s symbolically disresp-ectful to Churchill”.
Churchill himself is buried only a mile away from the palace grounds, according to The Guardian.
Churchill was born there in 1874.
The house, which is open to the public, is owned by a distant relative of Winston Churchill, Jamie Spencer-Churchill, the 12th duke of Marlborough.

Hitler and the Nazis have been used in countless fictional works from Indiana Jones to Doctor Who, but Veteran’s Association UK and others expressed their anger with this situation considering the specifics.
