European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has called for closer military cooperation at EU level.
“From an economic point of view bringing together our military resources could be clearly justified”.
Set up last year to run for three years until 2018 with a target of mobilizing 315 billion euros of investment, the current EFSI target is based on 21 billion euros of European Union money being leveraged 15 times by other investors.
He specifically said the European Union must do more in the defense field, and no longer be overly dependent on the United States.

“We can no longer depend on the power of individual member states and together we have to make sure we protect our interests”, he told MEPs.
“We want to construct”.
Aides say he believes the divisions are as great as he has known them in three decades at the heart of European Union politics.
“We can’t accept that because populism doesn’t solve problems”.
On October 2, Hungary will hold a referendum vote to decide whether the European Union can mandate the number of refugees resettled in the country without the approval of Hungary’s National Assembly.
Austria, meanwhile, will hold a re-run of its presidential election on October 2.
“The ECR Group that I lead has MEPs from 18 Member States who want an European Union that works better for their voters and for their countries”, added Kamal. It’s candidate, Norbert Hofer, is now leading in the polls, and already highly critical of the EU.

However as his cure for the bloc’s ailments, Mr. Juncker put forward a series of EU-based initiatives across several policy areas.
