Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been delayed

The project was led by Koji Igarashi, the producer on Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and fans were clearly keen to see another Castlevania-like game.

“Things have been progressing with development for Bloodstained, but between our current production set-up and release deadline, I’ve realized that at this rate the game may not end up meeting my quality standards”, he said in a development update.

We’ve got an important development update from IGA this week, and we wanted to make sure the backers were the first to hear it.

Thanks to fans’ generous contributions on Kickstarter, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is expected to receive features such as a Boss Revenge Mode, Roguelike Dungeon, and an asynchronous online multiplayer mode. You must battle your way through a demon-filled castle summoned by Gebel, your old friend whose body has become more crystal than flesh. You need to establish certain funding goals and when backers can expect them in order to entice people to give you money. Without it, essentially the company behind the project can do literally anything they want with it. Additional developers have also been hired, so the team is determined in releasing the best possible game, even if it may take longer than anticipated. Nobody knows how much money they will make, and nearly all gaming Kickstarter projects with more than 100% initially scheduled funding gets delayed. Previously, the estimated release date was 2017, so this pushes the game back (roughly) one year and extends the development period from two years to three.
