Blue Jays all-star pitcher Marco Estrada placed on 15-day disabled list
Donaldson represented Oakland at the 2014 all-star game, then was named a starter for the following year’s Midsummer Classic after receiving a record number of fan votes (14,090,188) in his first year as a Blue Jay.

Donaldson, who was named as a reserve to the AL roster, entered Tuesday’s play hitting.
“I thought I was going to be able to get through it. I definitely tried to find my way through it”, Estrada said.
Donaldson has scored 77 runs, a franchise record for runs before the All Star break.
Estrada’s injury also opens up a spot for another AL pitcher at All-Star game on July 12 at Petco Park.
Blue Jays right-hander Marco Estrada is hoping cortisone shots to his sore back will prevent him from missing his next scheduled start.
While Encarnacion and Donaldson are no strangers to the All-Star game, Estrada is one player who has earned the nod to the team and it is no surprise, given how his season has gone. “What he’s done has been like a magician out there”. It’s good for him. I’m happy I made the all-star game.
Troy Tulowitzki, with a three-run shot, and Ezequiel Carrera also went deep for Toronto.
“I saw a lot of swings and misses early … it was a nice night for it, too, a lot of humidity and a little bit of wind in my face”, said Dickey, whose lone blemish was a two-run home run off the bat of the Royals’ Cheslor Cuthbert in the fourth inning, as he went seven strong innings with eight strikeouts, allowing two unearned runs on four hits while walking three to improve to 6-9 and nab his first win at the dome this season. “So I talked to Clint Everts (a teammate at advanced-A Potomac in 2007) who had a really good changeup and asked him how he held the pitch, and it just seemed like I had a really good feel for it right away”. In a start in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series in October, he allowed four hits (including two homers), two walks and five runs (four earned) in 1 2/3 innings. Tulowitzki’s three-run shot gave Toronto a 6-0 lead and ended the Kansas City starter’s night.
Toronto manager John Gibbons said the move – retroactive to July 3 – was necessary with the Blue Jays in the midst of a pennant race in the American League East. But Toronto replied in the bottom of the frame when Donaldson scored from second base on an Encarnacion single to extend their lead to 7-2. In the seventh, though, he allowed a run on a sac fly. They also scored one in the ninth when Cuthbert hit an RBI double, scoring Hosmer.
Outfielder Michael Saunders still has a chance to make the All-Star team as a final vote-in, which you can do here.
The game will be broadcast live on FOX with coverage beginning at 4:30 p.m. PT. 290 on the season. I’m happy for the guys who are the starters and I’m happy to be a part of the whole scene that’s there.
