Blue Jays defeat Oakland, extend win streak to 11
TORONTO (AP) – What looked as if it might become a big inning for the Toronto Blue Jays turned into a bust. With runners on the corners and no outs, Troy Tulowitzki grounded into an RBI fielders’ choice, which deflected off Nova’s hand, giving the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.

Carlos Beltran knew that if he pinch hit, he was going to see smoke from Blue Jays reliever Aaron Sanchez.
“I didn’t get my job done and it cost us a win”, Sanchez said.
The 38-year-old said he’s been a Jays devotee since the late ’80s, and has found himself almost alone in his team allegiance most of the time. “That’s all I’ve got”. It is possible with the lineup the Blue Jays present, all they need is mediocrity from their 2, 3 and 4 starters. The blast gave the Yankees a 4-3 lead and sucked the air right out of the stadium, which seemed poised to celebrate what would have been a franchise-record 12th straight win. But half a game is not nothing to the fans, who, before the weekend is over, will make it four consecutive sellouts at the Rogers Centre, with more coming after a road trip that starts next Tuesday.
The Blue Jays announced they were postponing the 3:30 p.m. start to the news conference, just as Price tweeted a photo of his gray sports vehicle being loaded onto a truck.
Want to see more from Friday’s slate of games? “It was a great at-bat”. They’ve hit multiple homers in 14 of those 23. “We went through a tough streak there offensively”. What’s most remarkable about Toronto’s current streak, however, is that seven of those 11 wins game against the very teams the Jays needed to beat to move into a playoff position. Toronto has won 11 straight twice this season, also doing it in June. Taylor Saladino chipped in two hits, but his day will be better remembered as Pedro Strop’s eighth-inning strikeout victim. He was in control this time, too, in the opener of a three-game set before the Yankees scored four times. “I know it’ll be a big series, and their fans are pretty rowdy up there, I’m sure it’ll be a great atmosphere and we’re looking forward to the challenge”.
The 11-game win streak is no more!
If you missed it, the Blue Jays were leading the Yankees by a 3-0 score heading into the eighth inning Friday night.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has repeatedly said that the team won’t be trading for any high-end talent approaching the deadline, but one would have to imagine that if the Tigers dangle Price for a reasonable return, New York may pounce.
Former Yankees RHP Joba Chamberlain exercised an opt-out clause in his contract and was granted his release by Toronto’s Triple-A team in Buffalo.
Yankees stars Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira haven’t fared well against him with averages of.
He left Sunday’s game in Chicago after he was hit in the head by a pitch in the third inning then returned to the starting lineup Wednesday against Houston but played only five innings before running into the wall to make a catch.
This is the formula that’s been working for New York all season: Get a lead via dingers, and then use Betances and Miller to nail it down. Starter JA Happ lasted just 5 1/3, despite allowing just the one run.

“SeatGeek.com estimates that $1.4 million has been spent on the secondary market for the three Yankees games combined.” Donaldson has had a monster year, already passing his career high in home runs, and there’s still a lot of baseball to play.
