Josh Donaldson hit three home runs and Troy Tulowitzki added one as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Minnesota Twins 9-6 on Sunday afternoon to complete a sweep of the three-game series.

It was a matter of the Twins finding another way to lose in a discouraging season. He reached base on a single, stole second, advanced to third on Joe Mauer’s pop fly to left field then ran home when Stroman bounced the ball off the plate. “He’s trying to do something to help us win”.

Donaldson broke a 1-1 tie in the third inning with a solo home run off of Twins starter Kyle Gibson.

The Twins have lost four straight games in which they score five or more runs. “It shows you how they’re rolling offensively”.

Donaldson began his barrage with a solo homer off Gibson in the second.

Donaldson hit his 33rd homer of the season and the third of the game with two out in the eighth against Alex Wimmers. That allowed Upton to score standing up as a sellout crowd of 47,485 cheered wildly.

“I’ve never had a curtain call before so that was nice”. “I tried to enjoy it for a second”. (Edwin Encarnacion) was on deck after I hit the third one and he had a huge smile on his face. That kind of brought it into reality a little bit there.

RAYS 10, ASTROS 4: Chris Archer struck out 10 in seven innings, Corey Dickerson hit a three-run homer and Tampa Bay won at Houston.

“It doesn’t get any better than that”, manager John Gibbons said.

Blue Jays knuckleballer R.A. Dickey allowed six hits, three walks and five runs (three earned) in six innings.

Scott Feldman (7-4) earned the win by getting two outs in the seventh. Toronto Blue Jays’ Josh Donaldson reacts after fouling a pitch off his foot in the first inning of a baseball game against the Minnesota Twins in Toronto, Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016.

Bautista led off the first with a double as Twins’ outfielders Robbie Grossman and Danny Santana collided, allowing it to drop in.

“Things just snowballed”, Molitor said. Santana left with a sprained left shoulder.

Toronto right fielder Jose Bautista went 3-for-5, including a double, in the game. Both Kevin Pillar and Upton Jr. jetted around the bases on the miraculous play that put the Blue Jays ahead 8-7 in the eighth inning. He is batting.318 (7-for-22) during the six-game streak.

Twins: Triple-A OF Logan Schafer will join the team in Cleveland Monday to replace Santana. He was checked by the trainer and stayed in. He didn’t disappoint Toronto fans, driving in Upton and Devon Travis to make it 7-5. Thole could return when rosters expand Thursday.

ANGELS 5, TIGERS 0: Former Tiger Jefry Marte had three RBI and Tyler Skaggs shut down the host Detroit offense. Santiago missed his last turn with a bruised thumb. That’s his game. Stroman’s record fell to 9-6, with a 4.58 ERA, but his confidence remains unbroken.

NOTES: Toronto RHP Aaron Sanchez, who was optioned to Class A Dunedin to control his innings, will rejoin the Blue Jays on Wednesday and will start the third game of the series against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. Their pitching staff as a whole tossed 52 innings while striking out 68 batters for a spectacular 1.73 ERA within the same crucial span.
