Texas second baseman Rougned Odor received an eight-game suspension for igniting the brawl with his right hook straight to the noggin of Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista according to Jon Heyman, who also reported Odor will appeal. The benches emptied, and Gibbons – ejected earlier in an unrelated incident – emerged from the Blue Jays clubhouse to yell at Banister. Just when I was notified after batting practice that I was suspended and fined I placed a call and said I was going to appeal it. Seeing players get jacked up after doing something great is fun to watch, and I may be in the minority, but I didn’t see Bautista’s bat flip in October as crossing the line. I guarantee you his arm was still hurting, wherever it hit him.
The Rangers won 7-6.
Texas Rangers’ Rougned Odor, left, prepares to complete a double play with a throw over Oakland Athletics’ Matt McBride (29) in the fourth inning of a baseball game, Monday, May 16, 2016, in Oakland, Calif.
Tension stemmed from October 14, when Bautista hit a tiebreaking three-run homer against Sam Dyson in the seventh inning of Game 5 of the AL Division Series, admired the ball for a couple seconds until it glanced off the front of the second deck in left and then flipped his bat dramatically. Both benches cleared and the situation became even worse on the field.
Major league baseball has suspended 14 players and staff members following Sunday’s bench clearing brawl between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers. “It’s unfortunate that it had to escalate to that”.
Regular guys who don’t want to fight anybody and don’t pretend they do.
Bautista getting only one game while Odor received eight is going to raise some eyebrows, but it’s all about the punch. “We don’t get involved unless they notify us”. Bautista was hit intentionally the previous at-bat.
“I think I have good enough reasons to, I’m not appealing it for the sake of appealing it”.

That was the conclusion of Major League Baseball.
