Blues Add Free Agent Forward Scott Gomez

Center Scott Gomez of Anchorage, two-time victor of the Stanley Cup, on Wednesday signed a one-year, two-way contract with the St. Louis Blues. He was signed by the club after attending camp on a tryout basis. His tryout contract was set to expire prior to the Blues’ home opener on Thursday.

“And so the dream continues, ” Gomez said by cellphone.

Gomez lends the Blues depth and experience. Last season, he had 34 points in 58 games with the Devils in his second stint with the team.

Fitzgerald, 19, now leads all Halifax (QMJHL) defensemen in points, posting three goals and two assists in his first seven games this season. Gomez will be a cheap option to call up if they need him. “It’s kind of weird to say it, but it’s probably the most skilled team I have been on since the old Devils days”. Per General Fanager, that extra chunk of change puts the team $2,918 under the newly-created upper limit – enough to get them out on the ice for opening night, but still uncomfortably close to running out of room for call-ups. It’s fun being in a winning atmosphere.
