Blues advance to Western finals with 6-1 win over Stars
Mike Crombeen scored a double-overtime game-winner for the Blues in the 1981 playoffs to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins. Many successful playoff teams have ran with two goalies, or just the one that’s hot at the time (currently, Pittsburgh), so why not the Blues? “We got a lead early and we didn’t really look back”. I think he is just going through this stretches good players go through. “But it’s got to be a great blue-collar effort”.

“He had a tough start to the game, like our team”.
Brian Elliott’s night might be the most head-scratching, as the netminder gave up three goals on seven shots that gave the Stars enough cushion to force their Game 7.
Backup Jake Allen was ideal in relief of Elliott, but saw only seven shots on net in 41 minutes of action – his first since April 3.
“We’re not here without Kari”, Spezza said.
But Elliott’s numbers have been indisputably better this season than Allen’s, and Hitchcock wasn’t phased after Elliott had a bad Game 6 against Chicago, immediately announcing his intention to give him Game 7. Even after their win over Chicago in the first round, the Blues don’t have a ton of Game 7 experience.
The teams took a 0-0 tie into the first intermission, but Detroit scored four times in the second period and added another two in the third for a runaway 6-1 win. “It’s 12 years”, Hitchcock said. “I’ll let you know on the game day”. “I’m happy for them because they get a chance to strut a little bit”. Stars coach Lindy Ruff is 0-4. The Predators also went seven games in their first-round series against Anaheim.
The club made it much easier on everybody this time. “But after that, I think it’ll be fun”. “Mainly came expecting to see a game and we just had a goalie implosion, so it was pretty disgusting”, Jack Price said. “But he’s a guy that we could rely on”. “We expected the veterans to play, but he’s a 20-year-old kid and played with such competitive composure”.
Though “the Queen of Country Pop” has yet to appear at a Stars game, she’s clearly thrilled with her role in their success, tweeting: “Heard @dallasstars have fantastic taste in pregame music”. I would say so. “We’re going to have to break some cameras at the blue line”.
And scripted just like a classic country ballad, the Stars came through with their backs against the wall.
Brian Elliott will start in goal for the St. Louis Blues in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night. St. Louis awaits the victor of Thursday’s Nashville Predators-San Jose Sharks Game 7 to find out their opponent in a series that’s set to begin in Sunday.
“We have a lot of confidence”, Shattenkirk said.
Game 7 offered an illustration in how quickly fates can change for goalies. We saw that (Monday) in the second and third. They have to continue to play consistently throughout the course of the game.
“The situations I’m talking about aren’t the careless ones where we’re giving up breakaways and two-on-ones”.
A St. Louis Blues fan holds up a sign among Dallas Stars fans during the first period of Game 7 of the NHL hockey Stanley Cup Western Conference semifinals Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in Dallas. Per the usual, the over/under is set at 5.

“He’s given us a chance to get to Game 7 again”, Blues coach Ken Hitchcock told reporters. He finished the series with four goals and eight points, both team highs.
