The U.S. has never lost the men’s medley relay in Olympic history.

The most successful Olympian of all-time bowed out with a 23rd gold medal as Michael Phelps helped propel the US to glory in the men’s 4×100 metres medley relay.

The same could be said for Ryan Murphy’s leadoff backstroke leg, which set a new 100m world record of 51.85.

While competitions wrapped up in swimming and rowing, they’re just heating up in track and field, where Mo Farah of Britain recovered from a fall to defend his Olympic 10,000-meter title and American Jeff Henderson overtook Luvo Manyonga of South Africa on his last jump to win the long jump gold medal.

“I couldn’t really smile”, Schooling said.

The USA’s two victories on Saturday gave them 16 out of a possible 32 swimming gold medals here.

Phelps’ 23 golds are more than twice as many as the nearest competitor.

Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian in history, earns 23rd career gold with United States win in 4×100 medley relay in his last Olympic race. In the lone final in which he failed to set a world record, Phelps beat Cavic by one one-hundredth of a second.

He won gold in an Olympic-record 50.39 seconds, leaving Phelps, Le Clos and Cseh in his wake.

He arrived at the 2016 Olympics already holding the record with 22 Olympic medals in his career and added five golds and one silver while in Rio.

The U.S. team of Sarah Hammer, Kelly Catlin, Chloe Dygert and Sarah Hammer finished in 4:12.454. American Tori Bowie took silver.

In the relay, backstroker Kathleen Baker, breaststroker Lilly King and butterfly veteran Dana Vollmer delivered a lead of almost two seconds to Manuel, who brought home the gold with a solid freestyle leg. Miller, also making his first Olympic appearance in 2016, earned a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke.

Cochrane, the silver medallist four years ago in London and the bronze medallist eight years ago in Beijing, finished in a time of 14:49.61. He also won team gold in the 4×100- and 4×200-meter freestyle relays, along with Saturday’s 4×100-meter medley relay.

Monica Puig won Puerto Rico’s first gold medal in any sport in Olympic history, upsetting Angelique Kerber in the women’s tennis singles final at the Rio Games.

Seeded second, Kerber won the Australian Open in January and was the runner-up at Wimbledon last month.

Paltrinieri, the 1500m gold medallist at last year’s world championships in Russian Federation, led from the outset and swam under world record pace for much of the race before easing off in the final laps.
