Blurry iSight? Apple replaces faulty iPhone 6 Plus cameras

Apple has discovered a problem with the main camera – dubbed “iSight” – in some iPhone 6 Plus smartphones, which is causing them to take blurry photos.

Apple says that while this replacement program doesn’t extend the standard warranty of your iPhone, it does cover the iSight camera for three years from the date the device was first sold.

Devices affected were mainly sold between the September 2014 release date and January 2015.

Apple on Saturday announced that a small number of iPhone 6 Plus devices have a camera flaw.

If you’re wondering if you have an affected iPhone 6 Plus, you can check here. You can find out whether your handset is eligible by visiting its program page and entering your serial number. The iSight Camera Replacement Program has details on how to proceed with the replacement process.

Apple makes clear that if the iPhone’s screen has been cracked or it has been otherwise damaged, it will need to be fixed before the camera can be replaced – potentially incurring a cost.

Reportedly, complaints on Apple Support page about blurry images started in October 2014, and some iPhone 6 Plus have been replaced when brought to Apple Stores for “diagnosis”, according to The Guardian. Serial numbers can be found under “Settings > General > About” on an iPhone.

Apple notes that the company may restrict or limit fix to the original country of purchase.
