BMW To launch Next “i” Electric Flagship in 2021
All of those questions remain to be answered, but for now BMW joins a number of auto companies including Ford, Audi and Tesla that have committed to delivering fully autonomous vehicles in the next five years.

In a statement, Krueger said, “In 2018, we will launch a BMW i8 Roadster”. The new flagship for BMW’s i subbrand lineup will be based on the Vision Next 100 concept unveiled in March.

Several tech companies like Apple and Google have all established teams to work on autonomous cars. The iPhone maker has invested $1 billion in Chinese ride-hailing company, Didi Chuxing (formerly Didi Kuaidi), which raises speculations of the company pushing further into autonomous cars.
