The following are some key facts that may prove interesting for anyone interested in following this year’s race: Cambridge leads the challenge with 81 victories to 79. Putney Embankment will also be busy – if you’d rather enjoy the event in style, you could pay to go into one of the rowing clubs lining the river along the embankment.

Watching from the river bank is extremely popular although you occasionally encounter the odd person cycling along trying to keep up with the boats.

At 133 pounds, the five-foot-seven Lukasiewicz – a former lightweight rower – is 45 pounds lighter than the five-foot-eight Brown.
