The convicted killer’s new lawyer questioned his old lawyers about everything from whether Bashara could get a fair trial in Detroit, to taking the stand.

Bashara said Jane agreed he could do what I wanted to do to satisfy himself after they stopped have sexual relations due to health issues both had.
Bashara says he “fell into” the BDSM lifestyle around 2004.
In one interview with a reporter, Bashara said Joseph Gentz – his former handyman, who told authorities he killed Jane Bashara at her husband’s direction – came to his home “one time”.
City officials disliked that Bashara, who owned commercial and residential buildings, rented to blacks and Albanians, what I think is the No. 1 reason, he said. Evans asked him why he said it. Last December, Bashara was convicted of killing his wife.
Gentz chose not to testify during the trial, but purportedly told police that Bashara forced him to strangle Jane in the couple’s garage and then ordered him to leave her body in her Mercedes-Benz in a Detroit alley.
Bashara was emotional in his effort to get a new trial.
“His demeanor and his emotions to me were not consistent with someone who had lost his wife… violently murdered”, Hiller said, adding that Bashara had also failed a lie detector test. She was strangled, and her body was discovered in her SUV on Detroit’s east side.
Evans said she had other cases on Wednesday’s docket and that’s Bashara’s testimony might take several hours.
The News reported that he said he met his girlfriend, Rachel Gillett, in 2008: “I wanted to help her… this is the type of women I wanted to help in the lifestyle”. Bashara contends Hiller had a “grudge” against him stemming, in part, from an investigation in the 1990s into allegations that Bashara inappropriately touched a child.
Bashara was accused of inappropriately touching his 5-year-old niece, but was never charged.
He said he loved his wife even though they didn’t have sex after a while.

Bob Bashara is serving his life sentence at the Oaks Correctional Facility in Manistee. His evidentiary hearing, spanning five days so far, resumes Monday.
