Corker campaigned with Trump in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Tuesday. “It’s a highly political job, and that’s not who I am”, Corker told the newspaper.

The exit of Corker, who serves as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, represents a huge blow towards any chance Trump had left to bulk up foreign policy expertise on the GOP ticket.
Aides to Senator Corker declined to comment.

“I like the generals; I like the concept of the generals”, Trump said, “[But] we’re looking to go more the political route in terms of getting legislation passed”.
