Bob Knight endorses Donald Trump in Indianapolis

Former Hoosiers’ basketball Coach Bobby Knight said Donald Trump could be as good a president as Harry Truman in that he wouldn’t be afraid “to drop the bomb” like Truman did in World War II.

“You folks are looking at the most prepared man in history to be president”, Knight said about Trump.

According to USA Today, long-time basketball coach Bobby Knight will appear at a Donald Trump rally in IN this week. “I just want to thank you for the opportunity that I had to coach in this state; it will always be something that I cherish”, Knight said.

Knight mocked the idea of Trump needing to “act presidential” and said similar criticism had been levied against Truman, whom he felt was “one of the three great presidents of the United States”. And damn he went on to be one of the three best presidents in USA history.

Stigall also spoke with AB Stoddard from The Hill who said Republicans are still vacillating between the choice of Trump and a convention floor fight led by Ted Cruz.

Trump said earlier this week that he would like it if Knight endorsed his campaign. He faced added scrutiny when he made a comparison between handling stress and rape during an NBC News interview, saying, “I think that if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it”.

“I think he might get a bigger reaction than Trump”, the other replied.

“He is the first presidential candidate in history who is mathematically eliminated and is choosing a vice president”, Trump said.

It was a role reversal from the start of Donald Trump’s stop in Indianapolis. Knight and Trump are kindred spirits, both renowned or notorious, depending on your view, for their bluntness and combativeness and lack of concern about their public perception for either trait.

“There has never been a presidential candidate prepared to the length that this man is”.

In 2001, Knight took the head coaching job at Texas Tech where he held the position until 2008. “The campaign is going to proceed under the mantra, which we’ve had in this campaign from Day One, which is: Let Mr. Trump be Mr. Trump”.

Hale said he wanted to come out to see for himself what Trump was like.

Trump will host another rally Thursday at the Old National Events Plaza in Evansville. “Tough, strong, smart. I would like to get that for IN, I’ll tell you what”. Eventually, the son points out that Jesus and his apostles all had long hair, only for “the man in charge” to tell him that he was “absolutely right – and they walked their ass off everywhere they went”.
