Bob Stoops Issues Statement On Baker Mayfield, Samaje Perine, Joe Mixon

Sooners coach Bob Stoops issued the following statement Friday morning: “Baker Mayfield and Samaje Perine practiced all week and Joe Mixon has practiced every day since Wednesday”.
Both running backs played through their injuries, but Mayfield’s blocked him from coming back into the game, and Oklahoma’s offense struggled mightily with Trevor Knight. He entered the game in the second quarter, played one possession and threw an interception that Thomas returned 32 yards for a touchdown to give Oklahoma a 34-10 lead.
“Credit them”, Spencer said. Perine had touchdown runs of 68 and 25 yards, and Mixon added a 66-yard scoring run in the half. If the ‘Boys come out charged up like they did in the famous 2011 Bedlam Beatdown then we might be able to expect similar results.
Oklahoma rolled to a 44-20 halftime lead. “I knew our guys were ready and I knew what we were playing for”. The Sooners gained 359 yards on 36 plays before the break.
Rudolph limped at times during last week’s game against Baylor, when he threw for 430 yards and three touchdowns.

As the final seconds ticked away, most of the crowd at Oklahoma State’s Boone Pickens Stadium was wearing Oklahoma crimson, and the fans shouted back and forth to each other: “Boomer!” We just didn’t tackle well enough. He did not return for the second half, citing a headache as the reason. He also has 343 yards rushing and six TDs.
