Bohn, O’Hair, Park, Molder tied for lead at Greenbrier

English veteran Greg Owen is just three shots off the pace in a tightly-packed leaderboard, although he missed chances to contend for the outright lead as he carded one birdie, one bogey and 16 pars in a workmanlike 70.

Tiger Woods shot a 1-over 71 on Saturday and fell to 4 under for the tournament.

American Jason Bohn shot a career best 61 to head a four-way tie for the lead after the third round of the Greenbrier Classic in West Virginia.

The quartet have a one-stroke lead over Justin Thomas, who fired a flawless four-birdie 66, while Danny Lee, David Hearn and Chad Collins all handed in 68s to join Thomas on 10 under par.

Woods 3-putted for bogey at 13, but got that stroke back with a 16-foot birdie effort on the 15th. He was able to mark a 67 bogey-free scorecard – his first in 55 competitive rounds since August 2013. Two were decided in playoffs and the largest margin was two shots twice. He’s sacrificed some distance off the tee in order to give himself a better approach to the hole, which is helping to keep him in the red numbers and avoid bogeys.

Bohn had birdied the final hole in the second round Friday to make the cut on the number at 2 under. If he continues this progress, if he doesn’t post any rounds in the 80s and makes the cut and, most importantly, shows similar control of his golf ball, this past week might be viewed as the four rounds that turned everything around. “I kind of felt very comfortable with the putter today and made a lot of putts”.

“If I just made a couple of putts, this week could have been completely different”.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter said in a Sunday newspaper interview that French and German presidents applied political pressure before the 2018 and 2022 World Cups were awarded to Russian Federation and Qatar, respectively.

The 14-times major champion made four birdies on the rain-softened course, but three bogeys on the back nine demonstrated that his swing issues have not been resolved as he looks towards this month’s British Open at St. Andrews. It appeared that Tiger’s swing started to get a little loose on him, regularly overs winging on drives; Tiger used his driver more than I would think he needs.

It promises to be a cracking final day at Greenbrier and no player is shorter than 8-1 to claim the trophy. “For me, I just stay away from it. I understand that everyone has an opinion, just like everyone has an…”

NOTES: The first five winners of this event have come from behind in the final round … For his part, Woods continued to talk about the process.

Scott Langley (74) and Jhonnattan Vegas (76) shared the second-round lead, but tumbled into a tie for 40th and 62nd, respectively.
