Boil water advisory issued for Boblo Island

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for the East Bank of New Orleans. That area was still under a boil advisory until Thursday afternoon.

Officials recommend boiling water for a full minute in a clean container before drinking it, brushing teeth with it or using it to prepare food.

Check back with the Gazette, rosscowater.org or call the Ross County Water Company at 740-774-4117 for updates. A sponge bath should be considered to reduce the chance of them swallowing water.

The agency, which did not put out an advisory until several hours after pressure dropped to potentially unsafe levels, was criticized by City Council members and residents for its response in that case.

According to the parish, the boil-water advisory had still been in place for customers on Regala Park Road, Rosenwald from Power Boulevard to Airline Highway and West 10th Street from Power Boulevard to Airline Highway. Fifteen (15) psi is the threshold established by public health officials for issuing a boil water advisory. Bringing the water to a rolling boil for at least one minute will kill the microorganisms.
