The Nigerian Army said it has arrested a man it described as an “Emir of Boko Haram terrorists”, alongside 42 other suspects.

Amnesty global said earlier this year that Boko Haram had seized more than 2,000 women and girls since January 2014, as part of their quest to establish a hardline Islamic state in the region.

An AK47, bows and arrows and a horse that had been given to Modu were confiscated by the military.

Gambo was said to have told the troops that the IEDs used for the attack on northern Cameroun were prepared by the trio of Abdulrahaman Alkali, Ba’ana Hisuba and Alkali Isa Karami, all natives of Dara Jamel.

An update by the Nigerian Army, through the Director of Army Public Relations, DAPR, Colonel Sani Usman, said the arrest followed yesterday’s effort by advancing troops along Banki axis, that cleared two Boko Haram terrorists’ camps at Jangurori and Bulatori villages. “He however noted that the perpetrators have fled to Sumbulum village”.

The statement added that Tukur Buratai, the chief of army staff, monitors the progress of the troops and has been commending them for their performance.

According to the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, the audio clip is a fake and the Boko Haram sect, which it describes as a “devilish and anti-human group”, is being decimated by the Nigerian armed forces’ ongoing operations.

Bulama had always been wanted by security agencies.

Modu is a member of the highest decision-making body in Boko Haram, Usman said.

In another development, the Military said a restriction on vehicular movements will be observed during the Eid Kabir celebrations throughout Borno state.
