Boko Haram attacks northeast Nigerian city, town, 80 killed
Two days later, the militants launched rocket-propelled grenades and used a small army of suicide bombers, killing 22 people in the key northeastern city of Maiduguri, the spiritual home of the insurgency. At least 50 people were killed and the death toll could go higher. They successfully recaptured a large percentage of Nigerian territories under Boko Haram’s control at the time, putting an end to their reign of terror.

The killings occurred in spite of assurances by President Buhari; the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; and the military that the sect had been incapacitated and no longer had the capacity to harm Nigerians.
More than 70 people have been killed and more than a hundred others injured in sporadic bombings and suicide attacks that struck northern Nigeria since Sunday, according to police and eyewitnesses. Among the victims was the family of a local chief in Dawari village near Jiddari Polo who were killed by a rocket-propelled grenade understood to have been fired by Boko Haram fighters. A witness named Danladi Buba said two women detonated suicide bombs at a market near a busy bus station at about 9 a.m. Another bomber died and two people were wounded in a separate incident in Tolkomari village, a local official said.
In a separate case on Monday in the Madagali town of northeast Nigeria’s Adamawa State, at least 17 people were killed and some 41 others wounded in a suicide bomb attack. She killed one person and injured six or seven… How do we revive the economy in the North-East that has been shattered by Boko Haram?
The military said attacks took place at four south-western entry points to the city.
Governor Fayose, who urged the APC-led Federal Government to stop deceiving Nigerians, especially on the Boko Haram insurgency and its anti-corruption fight also said: “This governance by deceit must stop”.
“Accepting Boko Haram as an ideological proxy also gives (ISIS) an important foothold in a region where prevailing social, political and economic conditions are conducive to religious radicalization”, Cummings added.
It said: “The United States provides advisors, intelligence, training, logistical support and equipment to our African partners as they work to defeat Boko Haram”.

“When we say that the Boko Haram has been largely defeated, we are actually vindicated by the fact that even what happened till Christmas is the kind of thing you expect from any insurgency, because they know they are on their way out”.
