“I think Boko Haram will be finished by the end of 2015”.

“The leadership of Boko Haram cut across regions and states especially in the north, the name of the said new leaders appears to be that of Chad“, Gujbawu, who is also the Head of Department of Mass Communication, said.

In this manner, Boko Haram, which has recently lost many of its strongholds in northeastern Nigeria due to the joint counterinsurgency offensive waged by Nigerian, Chadian, Nigerien and Cameroonian forces, may be desperately looking for a new base for its activities.

The eight-minute-long recording mocked a recent statement by the new Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari that Boko Haram would be eliminated within three months.

“I am alive”, the BBC quoted Shekau as saying.

In recent weeks suicide bombers, many of them women, have staged several attacks in Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad.

Deby went on to predict that the government of Chad would rid the country and surrounding area of Boko Haram’s influence soon.

“We should remember Deby’s previous claim to be facilitating negotiations with Boko Haram over the Chibok girls last year, when in fact the interlocutor turned out to be a fake”, he told AFP, referring to the kidnapping of more than 200 schoolgirls. “The activities of these misguided groups and individuals have resulted in wanton destruction of lives and properties of our citizens and a disruption of social economic lives of millions of Nigerians”.

“I can assure you that these officers are the very best you can get as they are officers of impeccable character because they have assured me that they are going to confront the problem to the best of their abilities”, Monguno said.

James Entwistle, the US ambassador to Nigeria, disclosed in an interview with The Punch that the US is ready to ship weapons to Nigeria.

“This will pull in the larger society to work with the military to end the insurgency”, Monguno said. Other attacks in 2014 targeted Muslim communities (6.8 percent), the government (10.9 percent), schools (4.1 percent), and media and medical personnel (0.5 percent), according to the Jubilee Campaign 2015 Report on Nigeria.
