Boko Haram slaughters eight in Borno village
Borno and Yobe governors told a monthly national economic council meeting in Abuja that the rebel group – whose insurgency has claimed more than 15 000 lives since 2009 – still controlled five municipalities within their states.

Speaking at the meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the governors called for increase in military deployment and provision of sophisticated military equipment.
“Insurgents are still hiding in the Sambisa forest”, it added.

“They slaughtered people… In all, nine people including the village head, were killed”, a resident said on Friday.
The bloodshed came after Boko Haram released a new video on Twitter, maintaining they were not defeated and vowing: “We will be coming from where you never expected, stronger than before”.
On Wednesday, President Buhari lashed out at the United States for refusing to provide his soldiers with weapons in their fight against Boko Haram.

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have burnt down houses, including the family home of the Chief of Army Staff, Maj.
The US President also affirmed that his country is ready to help Nigeria on both issues in a way that will make the country an anchor not only of prosperity and stability in the sub region and Africa, but an outstanding role model for developing countries around the world.
