The Army had said in a statement: “The world is quite aware of the abduction of several persons; women, children and men, including the female students of Government Secondary School Chibok, Borno State Nigeria by Boko Haram Terrorists group”.
Salkida, who was born in northeastern Borno state where Boko Haram began its Islamic uprising in 2009, has reported extensively on the extremist group as well as on Nigerian military abuses and corruption.
Salkida added that the army was declaring him wanted for simply carrying out his professional duties as a journalist, stressing that he does most of his work with “total allegiance and sacrifice to the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
Salkida was declared wanted by the army on August 14 along with two other individuals – rights activists Ahmed Bolori and Aisha Wakil.
“Mr. Salkida further told the passenger that he did not know the whereabouts of Boko Haram leaders or Chibok girls”.
Ibrahim Abubakar and Idris Audu, alias AYA were arrested in Kano according to Tony Opuiyo, a spokesman for DSS.
“Audu is an [improvised explosives devices] specialist who was being groomed to penetrate security agencies in the country”.
