Bolt is running in the 200-meter final and going for his third straight sprint double after winning the 100 and 200 in the Beijing and London Games.

Andre de Grasse of Canada took silver with a time of 20.02 while Frenchman Christophe Lemaitre got the bronze with 20.12.

The Jamaican had made positive noises about an assault on his own 2009 world record of 19.19 but instead his winning time on a chill, damp night was the slowest of his seven world and Olympic 200m victories. Maybe it is somewhere within the Lane 6 that he ran in here to win the 200m. “I wasn’t happy with the time, my body just wouldn’t respond in the straight”.

“It’s just the fact you’re getting old”. It was silly. We had only half an hour by the time we got done with the semifinals, I have never been so exhausted as I did in the 100m this time.

But to Bolt himself, he just wasn’t quick enough.

The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, has said that “the world’s greatest athlete, Usain Bolt, has delivered again”. “Be among Ali and Pele”, Bolt said.

I would hope he’ll settle down, get married and start his family.

The US was originally eliminated in the heats after Allyson Felix failed to hand the baton to teammate English Gardener following a collision with another runner from Brazil.

The Americans went through with the fastest time of 37.65s and will pose a threat to Bolt’s ambitions, Friday.

United States’ Kerron Clement crosses the line to win gold in the men’s 400-meter hurdles during the athletics competitions of the 2016 Summer Olympics at the Olympic stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016. Although a valiant effort by Gemili, Lemaitre claimed bronze. Americans took gold in the men’s and women’s 400-meter hurdles. The fastest woman in the world this year over the distance, blasted out of the blocks and held on to a commanding lead for a deserved gold in 53.13sec. Her compatriot Ashley Spencer took bronze ahead of Denmark’s Sara Slott Petersen.

Defending champion Ashton Eaton of the US won gold with 8,893 points while France’s Kevin Mayer took silver with 8,834 points.

No one has ever won the gold in that competition three consecutive times.

Bolt’s victory came just four days after he also achieved a hat-trick of Olympic gold medals in the 100m.

“I’ve proven to the world you can do it clean”. Brazilians also celebrated wildly on Copacabana after Alison Cerutti and Bruno Schmidt won the men’s beach volleyball title in the rain, beating Italy’s Paolo Nicolai and Daniele Lupo 21-19, 21-17.

American Helen Maroulis won the first gold medal for a USA woman in wrestling, and she beat legendary Saori Yoshida from Japan to do it. Britain’s Jade Jones beat Spain’s Eva Caldo 16-7 in the women’s under 57kg final. If there was, Bolt would have a decent chance at 3 more golds.

Bolt said it was “a brilliant feeling” to win but he was not happy with his time and indicated he may not run the 200m at the world championships next year in London.

Jordan’s Ahmad Abughaush Abughaush beat Alexey Denisenko of Russian Federation 10-6 to win the men’s under-68kg division. He already claimed gold in the 100 in Rio.
