Usain Bolt has completed his historic “triple triple” after helping Jamaica to win the 4×100 metres relay at Rio.

It was the ideal way for the sport’s biggest star to leave its biggest stage.
“There you go, I’m the greatest”, Bolt told reporters after his third win in Rio, which earned him the ninth gold medal in his career.
Usain Bolt made it a ideal nine for nine in Olympic finals, completing a unique “triple-triple” of sprinting gold, as he anchored Jamaica to victory in the men’s 4×100 meters relay in Rio. As they paraded, Bolt was holding three fingers up for three Olympics, three events and three gold medals as he exits the Olympic games and his career with a big smile on his face. I’m happy, but I’m relieved.
“I would have never thought I could go back to back to back at the Olympics”. He smirked and continued, “My team came through for me tonight”.
“And they did exactly that, I had no work to do, just to run to the line”.
“I’ve worked hard every Olympics to prove I’m the greatest”. Nickel Ashmeade then handed the baton to Bolt.
Felix had been bumped in the preliminary heats and lost the baton, but the US team protested and got a second chance – a solo re-run that allowed them to qualify based on time.
“I told the guys that if they didn’t come through for me I’d beat them up!”
It’s the end of an era. “I’m going to miss the competition and it’s just so many different feelings I’m feeling”. I’ve had injury problems, but I’m also sad that I have to leave.
Age is catching up with him – the only thing that can it seems. He has so many gold medals right now I can’t even count. “It’s just sweat and tears”. From left, Allyson Felix, English Gardner, Tianna Bartoletta and Tori Bowie ran a time of 41.01, the second-fastest ever. That is all relative, though. Its 37.27 seconds was the fourth fastest in history.

With most of the other debates over about greatest this, greatest that, a new one might be whether Bolt has surpassed Marley as the most famous person from the country known for sea, sun and sprints. No world record, but he still has a piece of that one, too – it’s 36.84 seconds, set four years ago at the London Games. “I’m proud of myself”. As the team looked up to see the results, in has been shown that they were yet again disqualified from the race and Canada took the bronze medal.
