Police officers were checking the German carrier’s plane, luggage and passengers after the landing, Hungarian police said by e-mail Monday.
Police searched the plane for explosives, with the bags of 133 passengers taken off to be assessed.
German airline Condor said that the Airbus A321 from Berlin with 140 passengers and crew on board diverted to Budapest after an “unspecific warning given by telephone”. We are getting reports that the bomb squad, sniffer dogs and emergency services were immediately pulled into action following the flight’s emergency landing.

“The plane is still undergoing checks at the airport”, police spokesperson Viktoria Csiszer-Kovacs told AFP. So watch this space for frequent updates as the event continues to unfold. She would not identify the source of the information about the bomb threat, but said police are following “established protocol” for what she said was “not an extraordinary situation”.
