Bomb threat forces closure of Ringmer school
A menacing caller rang Canterbury Academy to say there was a bomb on site and “the shrapnel will take children’s heads off”.

“The first call was to Pinhoe School in Exeter, the second call was received at Devonport High School for Girls in Plymouth, and the third was to Charlestown Primary School, Carlyon Bay, St Austell”.
Lucie County School District PIO Janet Sizemore confirms there is a bomb threat being investigated at Treasure Coast High School.
Cleveland Police said it had a “small presence” at the school.
One student said: Why put a bomb in discovery with children like it makes no sense.
“That really scared me I literally thought a bomb was going to blow up in front of us”.
“It’s nearly certainly a hoax – but with what’s happening across Europe I am not prepared to take a gamble”.
The school confirmed they received a malicious call and are now taking advice from police.
Thousands of pupils were evacuated in schools from Kent all the way up to Newcastle after a series of anonymous phone calls.
A spokesman for the force said: “Emergency services are now at Mayfield Primary School in Cambridge following a report of a suspected hoax bomb threat at just before 11am”.
Headteacher Kate Fripp told local news website UKNIP: “There has been a security incident at Emsworth Primary School today”.
Primary schools and secondary schools in Kent, Surrey and Cambridgeshire received anonymous phone calls on Monday morning, according to police.
A letter emailed to parents following the incident said: “When the call was taken the office staff immediately contacted 999 and the fire alarms were sounded to evacuate the building”.

Meanwhile Oulder Hill School and Redwood School in Rochdale were evacuated after calls warning of a ” suspicious package”.
