Meanwhile, the Lucknow-Shatabdi Express has been evacuated and is being checked at Ghaziabad railway station after the bomb scare.
The Railway was informed by Delhi Police about an e-mail threatening of a bomb on the Delhi-Lucknow train. The bomb threat turned out to be a hoax. “After getting the clearance, the train resumed its journey at 7.52 am”, Mr. Sharma said.
All the passengers of the train were moved out at Ghaziabad and the coaches were searched thoroughly for more than an hour.
Delhi was put on high alert yesterday, following the attack at the IAF base in Pathankot, and security was heightened across the city.
The security has been intensified at Nizammudin and New Delhi railway station in Delhi, a police official said. Apart from trains, all passengers are also being frisked at the station and snigger dog squads have been deployed, apart from augmentation of RPF personnel.
The Neelanchal Express, which was to pass through Kanpur, was also searched at the New Delhi Railway Station.
