A Twitter account called “Evacuators 2k16” is claiming responsibility for the threats, saying they intend to cause “mayhem”.
Police intervened at Paris high schools on Tuesday after five of them received a bomb threat by telephone around mid-morning, the Paris education authority said.
As a result, all four schools self-evacuated. “At this stage, the incidents are being treated as malicious communications”, said a spokesperson.
Four more secondary schools in Cornwall had received calls “suggesting a potential security threat” at around 8am.
Metropolitan Police confirmed the threat but did not say which schools were affected.
Intelligence experts have since insisted “there was no credible threat” and believe the calls to be a hoax.
