The Nigerian Army has identified some of the officers involved and their collaborators, the Army’s acting spokesman, Col Sani Kukasheka Usman stated.
A bomb attack has claimed the lives of at least eight people and injured several others in Nigeria’s northeastern Borno State.
It was not clear how many people had been affected but Mr Haruna said he “saw ambulances leaving the market”.
The Institute of Economics and Peace at the University of Maryland has released its Global Terrorism Index 2015 and it shows that Boko Haram was responsible for more deaths than any other militant group in the world past year.
Boko Haram has mounted numerous attacks in Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria this year and is turning the border region near Lake Chad into a war zone, the United Nations refugee agency said last month. “This is because their evil intents would be distractive and capable of reversing the gains on the fight against Boko Haram terrorists”, the statement said.
In many recent attacks, bombers have detonated explosives when stopped for searches that have become routine in parts of Nigeria and Cameroon where suicide bombings have become near-weekly tragedies.

A witness had told PREMIUM TIMES reporter that the first explosion occurred at the market’s entrance while the second device exploded near a pavilion in the centre of the market.
