Bono: ‘Dangerous’ Trump Is ‘Worst Idea That Ever Happened To America’

Speaking on CBS show This Morning on Tuesday, the U2 frontman said, “Look, America is like the best idea the world ever came up with”. But I – that’s how I got in the door.

He went on to say that he believes Trump has hijacked the Republican Party and is trying next to “hijack the idea of America”.

Asked why the presidential race is so competitive, Bono said voters are giving voice to legitimate complaints about the political system.

The U2 rocker added that while he can not cast a vote in the November election, he will speak out about it as the US president makes decisions that impact the world. “I think he’s hijacked the party”.

“I think I’ll win the Hispanic vote”, Trump told reporters after touring the bridge.

“America’s not just a country”, he said, after sighing in exasperation and burying his head in his arms upon first hearing Trump’s name.

However, he did have words of sympathy for Trump’s supporters. “This is really risky”, he said. “Yeah, yeah. But there are very real problems facing not just America, but facing Europe”, he said. I’m Irish. I don’t have a vote, ‘ he said. “I think it’s-it’s-this is really risky”.
