Congress Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Amarinder Singh today refuted the claims of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, and said that the latter was just trying to justify the failure of his own government in Punjab.

Badal, who is the chief of Punjab’s ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), also met President Pranab Mukherjee and demanded that action should be taken against Congress and the party should be “derecognised”. “Today, Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi is trying to create the same environment in the state of Punjab”, Badal said.

Warning the people, the Chief Minister said that those forces which had pushed Punjab back into black days for nearly two decades were once again active to repeat those troublesome days in the State.

Singh a delegation of his party would meet the President on Saturday.

“Despite the fact that both Badal and Mann are trying to project the huge turnout of people at Sarbat Khalsa as pro-Khalistan, it was actually an expression of anger and outrage against Badal government and that is the reason Sukhbir is peeved and frustrated the most and is trying to blame the Congress”, he claimed.

“Instead of running away to Delhi and crying wolf there, why don’t you book us for sedition if you have proof that we are indulging in anti-national activities”, Amarinder Singh said.

Rejecting the CBI probe ordered by the Punjab government, the Congress leaders demanded an inquiry to be conducted by a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court.

Amarinder said, it was not only the Congress leaders, but the leaders of other political parties like the Bahujan Samaj Party and Aam Aadmi Party also attended the congregation.

He said 12,000 acres of crops have been destroyed because of spurious pesticides bought by Government.

He added that the rally which was held in Amritsar had an agenda of demanding a Khalistan.

“We requested the president to declare the Congress an anti-national party as it was working against the unity of the country”, said Badal.

Badal said all countrymen were with the family of this national hero, who had laid down his life at the altar of his motherland to protect its sovereignty and honour.
