Booster Gold Movie Will Not Be Part Of The DC Extended Universe

Berlanti claims there’s no “connective tissue” between his movie and the rest of the DCEU, but that does seem like the kind of thing that could easily change. But now, in an interview with Vulture, he confirms the film is standalone and not part of the larger DC Extended Universe.

But before Berlanti gets around to possibly directing Booster Gold, he’s readying a directorial effort of a different sort.

Fans of Booster Gold and Berlanti’s DC Comic television work were exciting to hear that the light-hearted character and the mind behind The CW’s television universe would both be coming to the DC Extended Universe. It is worth noting that while the movie isn’t connected now, Booster Gold is still in its earliest stages, meaning Warner Bros. could add connections later in development. His screen adaptation is courtesy of Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, the masterminds behind DC overtaking nearly every night on the CW, and apparently came out of a would-be TV series that never got picked up. Berlanti attributed DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns to reviving the idea as a movie. They worked with Zack Stentz (X-Men: First Class, Thor) to come up with the story.

Currently Berlanti is only attached to produce the feature adaptation, but he has hinted previously he would also like to direct the film.

If you’re unfamiliar with Booster Gold, he is the alter-ego of Michael Jon Carter, a 25th century Gothamite and glory-seeker who steals some hi-tech equipment and travels back in time to the present day in order to find fame and fortune as a superhero.
